Croats move two steps closer

The EU is to open membership talks with Croatia on two new subjects, or “chapters”, at an accession conference to be held in Brussels on 21 April. Diplomats said that unless there was a last-minute breakthrough, no new chapters would be opened with Turkey, the other membership candidate with which talks are underway.
