Climate Action
Nationality: Danish
Political Affiliation: EPP
Previous job: Minister for UN-led climate talks
Age: 49
Dan Jørgensen, a Danish Socialist, took on Hedegaard over the Danish government's chairmanship of the Copenhagen climate conference. Copenhagen was a “fiasco”, said Jørgensen, asking her to list “the serious mistakes” that the government had made. Hedegaard gave a stout defence and promised a bottle of champagne to anyone who could find a previous presidency of climate talks that had done more to engage with developing countries. “We are here to get down to work, not glug champagne,” responded Jørgensen.
Martin Callanan, a UK Conservative, asked whether Hedegaard would be using her entitlement to a chauffer-driven car and what car she would choose. Hedegaard said: "I can say for sure that I am not going to take a Danish car."
