Dutch liberal MEP Marietje Schaake asked a question to Kroes that had been sent in via Twitter by a member of the public (known only as Mark).
Kroes sported a large brooch in the shape of a question mark. She was wearing it, she said, in recognition that the hearing's outcome was not a foregone conclusion.
