Snappiest exchange
Claude Turmes, Luxembourg Green MEP, said that Oettinger had a close personal relationship with Wulf Bernotat, the chief executive of German energy giant E.ON, and Jürgen Grossman of RWE. He went on to mention that Oettinger had played skat, a card game, with Grossmann.

Oettinger replied that he had played skat with Grossmann but pointed out that it had been as part of a charity event to raise money for children in Baden-Würrtemburg.  “He lost and made an appropriate contribution. Perhaps my successor will invite you along, provided you can play skat and you're prepared to pay”.
