Barnier calls on countries to back down on bankers’ bonuses

Major divisions remain over bank capital rules and supervisory mechanism.

Michel Barnier, the European commissioner for the internal market, today called on European Union member states to soften their stance against MEPs’ demands for rules limiting bankers’ bonuses.
