Number of MEP seats are to meet Lisbon treaty rules

A bid to modify the number of MEPs from each member state to meet the requirements of the Lisbon treaty has found broad support from the European Parliament’s constitutional affairs committee. Under the proposal, Germany would lose three of the 99 seats it currently holds, while 12 smaller member states would lose one seat each.
