The plan from Atelier Christian De Portzamparc envisages a new showpiece building for the Commission where its agriculture department currently stands, 130 rue de la Loi. That new building, would, the atelier suggests, “play the role of a soloist, purer and higher, a symbol of the institution; it detaches itself and speaks to Europe and to the world, while the towers of the surrounding neighbourhood ‘belong’ to Brussels”.
