Call for clearer meat labelling

Member states show support for country-of-origin labelling for meat in processed food.

Prompted by a scandal about the covert use of horsemeat in processed food products, several member states have declared their support for country-of-origin labelling for meat in processed food. Their support has been reinforced by news that traces of horse DNA were found in meatballs being sold in some IKEA stores.
