Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUBrussel)

17.03.2010 / 15:43 CET
Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUBrussel) is the first institute of higher education that houses both a college (professional higher education) and a university (academic education).

It offers the best of both, e.g. excellent student counselling, a well-developed research culture, the analytical approach to a literature study, or the business-oriented ways of a school of economics. Student life is that of a college and a university combined and takes place in the largest city of Belgium, which is also the hub of the European Union.

The HUBrussel is the result of the merger between Brussels-based colleges EHSAL, VLEKHO, HONIM and a university; the Katholieke Universiteit Brussel. The economics and language programmes common to all partners are from now on offered jointly or integrated into a new course.

Within HUBrussel all degree programmes are organised by one of the two educational divisions.

The Academic Education division is based around three faculties:

  • Faculty of Economics and Management
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Linguistics and Literature

Those three faculties closely cooperate with the integrated faculties of the KULeuven Association.

The Professional Education division is based around four schools:

  • School of Commercial Sciences and Management
  • School of Education
  • School of Health Care
  • School of Social & Community Work

Choosing HUBrussel is choosing a combination of solid scientific foundations and practice/business-oriented education. It is choosing for Flemish culture topped with a European sauce; maximising your chances to shape your own future; studying in a stimulating environment that is geared to your specific needs.

For foreign students who do not speak Dutch and for Dutch speaking students who prefer a truly international classroom, HUBrussel offers a range of academic degree programmes in English.

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - 180 European credits
  • Master of International Business Economics and Management (MIBEM) - 60 European credits
  • MBA - Business Information Management (BIM) - 60 European credits
  • MBA - International Business Management (IBM) - 60 European credits
  • Master of European Business (MEB) - 60 European credits

The Master of Quantitative Analysis in the Social Sciences is an advanced Master programme, partly taught in English and partly in French.

Students who meet the qualification requirements for an academic degree programme, but whose English language competence or quantitative skills are lagging may want to consider enrolling in the preparatory programme English and Economics for Academic Studies first (one year training programme).

However, settling for one of our programmes does not restrict your international ambitions to Brussels. If you want to spend part of your study period abroad, and still stay enrolled and gain credits at HUBrussel, our study abroad programme may be just the thing for you. You will learn more about possible destinations at the International Office.
