EU’s airline emissions scheme gets legal backing

Including airlines based outside the EU in emissions trading scheme 'is compatible' with international law.

The European Union is allowed to include airlines from non-EU countries in its emissions trading scheme (ETS), according to a legal opinion from the European Court of Justice.
