Gulliver’s misadventures in central Europe

The beaten track frequently disappoints, while the path less travelled can throw up some undiscovered treasures.

Over at The Economist website’s Gulliver blog, we have been having fun collecting bad advice for tourists. My own favourite is “drink deeply of the healing waters of the Ganges”. Another advises visitors to the Baltic states to ignore the silly local languages and instead speak Russian everywhere, addressing the locals with a hearty “Tovarish” (comrade).
