America has its tectonic plate full

We are scarcely three weeks into the New Year and its dominant themes are already beginning to emerge. Politics and government are always at the mercy of events and leaders continually struggle to control and shape them. We are already seeing evidence of that in Europe but few, if any, here will be confronted with the tests and difficulties we can see emerging for the next occupant of the White House.
