Calm crusader

First came the Battle for Brussels. When Fabio Colasanti, who took over as director-general of the European Commission's enterprise department at the start of this year, first arrived in the 'capital of Europe' in 1977, the city was in the grip of one of its most rampant phases of 'Brussellisation' - the destruction of much of the old urban fabric.
