Contrasting styles but underlying message is the same

THE current round of Common Agricultural Policy reforms is generally agreed to be essential to the EU's planned expansion to the East, and is a prerequisite for maintaining harmonious relations between the Union and its largest trading partners.Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler has repeatedly warned that it would be a "disaster" if his reform package were not signed, sealed and delivered by the time EU officials take their place at the negotiating table in late 1999 for the next round of World Trade Organisation talks.
