EU must show sense and sensibility with Serbia

The imminent independence of Kosovo will mark the end of the territorial re-ordering which followed the gradual and violent demise of that once-proud country, Yugoslavia. The demise began in 1989, when Serbian strongman Slobodan Miloševic discovered the power of nationalist passions and abolished Kosovo's autonomy statute. It is coming to an end in the next few weeks when Kosovo will become the world's youngest state.
