EU Studies Guide 2008 - introduction

THE articles in this year's EU Studies Guide range, as in previous years, over developments in European studies and, more generally, in European higher education. We look at the development of European studies on the EU's eastern borders and at the growing appetite in Asia for studying the EU. We examine the possibilities for distance-learning degrees and studying across borders. We report on efforts by the European Commission to encourage specialisation in a particular branch of EU studies and on the interaction between business studies and EU studies. We consider efforts to make research into EU history and culture easier and more accessible. For those who cannot bear to leave the world of universities, there is advice on how to pursue an academic career across national borders.
