Family members to stay on MEPs' staff

Assistants to be employed directly by institutions

MEPs to publish more details of allowances

MEPs who employ members of their families will be able to continue doing so for the next term of the European Parliament, following a decision of 9 July. This is one concession made by the Parliament's bureau, made up of its president and the 14 vice-presidents, when it unanimously approved changes to the rules for employing and paying assistants.
