Jumping over the barriers

The Kangaroo Group held a breakfast meeting this week to ask 'can we compete with fairness?'
The Kangaroo Group is a cross-party group in the European Parliament, though dominated by MEPs from the right and centre-right. Its mission is the removal of barriers to the free movement of goods, services and people across the single European market. This means that it has friends in the business world and indeed it is supported by a corporate membership scheme. The Kangaroo Group held a breakfast meeting this week (18 September) with the title, according to signs inside the Parliament: “Can we compete with fairness?” How you read that might depend on your view of the Kangaroo Group. An equally ambiguous response might be: “Why would we want to?”
