The European Commission is planning further action against mobile phone operators who overcharge for cross-border services, Commission telecoms spokesman Martin Selmayr said today. To tackle the problem, an EU-wide regulation would be needed.

Travellers will pay less than half of current charges for sending text messages on a foreign mobile phone network from next summer, under plans currently being drafted by the European Commission.

The European Commission on 27 August announced the selection of 18 international film co-operation projects which will receive a total of €2 million of EU funding under the so-called Media International programme, as part of the Commission's drive to boost Europe's film industry.

Commission approves €150 million state aid for France Télévisions.
