  • Barclays has appointed Sacha Polverini as its new European public policy director, working mainly out of its Brussels office. He is currently managing director of European government and regulatory affairs at Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance (formerly GE Mortgage Insurance) and was previously head of parliamentary and external affairs at the European Mortgage Federation.

  • Martin Kamp has been appointed secretary-general of the centre-right EPP-ED group in the European Parliament, to succeed Niels Pedersen on 1 September. Kamp has most recently been head of the parliamentary service of the group.

  • The Slovak government has announced the appointment of Viliam Ostrožlík as deputy governor of the National Bank, a post that has been unfilled since March 2006.
