Napster offers peace deal

ONLINE music service Napster this week offered the recording industry nearly 1.1 billion euro over five years in a bid to stop the legal action which threatens its survival. Napster officials said they would pay licensing fees to major record firms, independent labels and artists. A US court ruled earlier this month that Napster had breached copyright law.
