John Bowis, a UK centre-right (EPP-ED) MEP, will be responsible for steering a draft directive on cross-border healthcare through the European Parliament. The directive is intended to create a legal framework to clarify when patients are entitled to treatment in other EU countries. Bowis, who was appointed on 26 August, said the directive was good news for patients.
