Preparing for euro-day

FRANKLIN Roosevelt's aphorism, "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself", sums up retail and specialist banks' official stand as they wait for the euro to arrive. After spending billions of ecu updating their computer systems, trying to diversify their exchange dealing out of European currencies, and attempting to educate retail and corporate customers, banks have little left to do but wait and see what euro -day brings.
