Serbia and Montenegro en route to Brussels via The Hague

On 12 April, the European Commission approved the feasibility study on Serbia and Montenegro. The study is a signal that Serbia is ready to begin negotiations with the European Union for a Stabilisation and Association Agreement — a significant step towards eventual EU membership. Underlying the Commission's decision is Serbia's recent and “significant” progress on co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
