Swedish setback

THE Swedish presidency is failing to convert its own people to the European cause, according to a new opinion poll. More than one voter in three believes Sweden should quit the European Union immediately, while 58% say the country should stay in for the time being. The poll was carried out for the Finanstidningen newspaper. Last week, Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson called for young people to get involved in shaping the future of Europe.
