1 October: Austrian elections;

2-3 October: Informal defence ministers' meeting, Kittlä. On the agenda: EDA steering group meeting, ESDP missions, Lebanon;

3 October: Conference, Helsinki: Adult education;

4 October: Weekly Commission meeting, Brussels. On the agenda: better regulation and codification, the long-term sustainability of public finances, demographic future of Europe, consultation of social partners on reconciliation of professional and private life, a decision on anti-competitive business practices, external aspects of competitiveness, international fund for Ireland, security of road infrastructure;

5-6 October: Justice and home ministers meeting, Luxembourg. On the agenda: immigration, Schengen, passerelle clause.
