US in the dock over terror torture

Front pages across Europe continue to feature prominently allegations, so far unsubstantiated, that one or more EU member states or candidate countries has hosted US Central Intelligence Agency-run secret prisons in which terror suspects are being tortured. Some nations may also have simply allowed US planes carrying the prisoners to land briefly on their way somewhere else.
