Vindicated, but challenges remain for Georgia's embattled president

According to preliminary results of the Georgian presidential election, embattled President Mikheil Saakashvili last weekend (6 January)?won re-election with just over half the popular vote in the first round, vindicating his leadership and democratic credentials.
