Why tobacco control treaty must be salvaged

THIS week, medical associations from each of the 15 member states launched a last-minute bid to prevent the collapse of a global Framework Convention for Tobacco Control (FCTC). In a letter to EU health ministers meeting at an emergency summit on Tuesday (6 May), they urged them to stiffen their resolve to get the convention ratified in every member state.
