Will Pope John Paul II live on in Parliament?

Polish MEP Boguslaw Sonik has written to the President of the European Parliament Josep Borrell to ask that one of the new Parliament buildings in Brussels be named after John Paul II. Centre-right leader Hans-Gert Pöttering has allegedly expressed his support for the suggestion but others, in particular the Liberals, are strongly against, saying that the Parliament is not a house of prayer. Borrell, who is learning not to pick fights with Polish MEPs, has answered that he will transmit the suggestion to the bureau, which is in charge of finding a name for the new building.
