Obama’s victory – what the papers say

A round-up of international press reaction to the US election.

The Washington Post writes that Barack Obama’s re-election as US president gives him the opportunity to “fill the blanks of a still uncertain legacy”. His main challenges are dealing with the nation’s fiscal situation, welfare reform and climate change. Abroad, the Post suggests that Obama ought to make “amends” to his “dithering” on Syria, “a blot on his first-term record”.
