Russia rejects mediation in Crimea

Russian ambassador to the EU says international mediation impossible because the Ukrainian government is ‘illegitimate’.

Russia’s ambassador to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov, has dismissed the notion of Russia supporting international mediation between pro-Russian separatists in the Ukrainian region of Crimea and the new government of Ukraine.
