Scandal over horsemeat spreads doubt about EU food labelling rules

Up to 16 member states have been affected.

A scandal over covert use of horsemeat could prompt an extension of the European Union’s food labelling rules and stronger enforcement of  existing law, Tonio Borg, the European commissioner for health and consumer policy said yesterday (13 February).
