The United Kingdom’s European partners are readying themselves to respond to a bid by David Cameron, the British prime minister, to re-write its relationship with the European Union.

Cameron will launch that bid with a speech in Amsterdam tomorrow (18 January), which he has promised will outline his vision for the UK’s future position in the EU.
