In just two months in 2008 Customs across the EU seized more than 34 million illegal medicines (1).
Lilly welcomes the European Commission's recent proposal (2) to tackle counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the legitimate supply chain, as a useful starting point. We call on the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers to protect patients by legislating on this issue without delay.
