The paper clip, 2 January 2013
The fear of "dangers lurking" around the eurozone's next corner leads our review of the European press.
Süddeutsche Zeitung has a major report on the eurozone in 2013. It sums its attitude up neatly: it is going to become more expensive. It says that the crisis is not over and there are “dangers lurking”.
The paper dismisses claims by, among others, Herman Van Rompuy, the president of the European Council, and François Hollande, the president of France, that “the worst is over”, and backs the view of Angela Merkel, Germany’s chancellor, that there is “still a difficult time ahead of us”.
