The new European Parliament can make women in Europe safer, wealthier and healthier. Iran may now become more authoritarian, but it will probably still have as much scope for action as elsewhere in the Middle East. A battle that require an 'Americanisation' of Europe in political terms and a 'Europeanisation' of America in social terms.
The Czech presidency had its successes, but the Czech political elite failed the country and other small countries.
Regulating rating agencies might, paradoxically, increase their importance.
Unfortunately, it may wear itself out too soon. Albania's elections may be far from optimal and political rivalries may be bitterly divisive, but the country has changed deeply.
