About the EVawards

Since 2001, European Voice has honoured the Europeans who have made the biggest impact  during the preceding year.

Choosing the nominees
An expert advisory panel, convened by the editor of European Voice, draws up a list of the personalities that it considers should be honoured. Those nominated include commissioners, MEPs, heads of state, politicians, EU officials, representatives of businesses and NGOs, campaigners - and, very importantly, European citizens.

'Europeans of the Year' awards
Out of the nominees, one in each category will be chosen via a public vote (either online or by completing a form in the newspaper) to receive the 'European of the Year' award. Each category winner will receive a European of the Year crystal trophy designed by the prestigious Val Saint-Lambert crystal makers.

Gala evening
The Europeans of the Year gala awards evening has become a feature of the EU-affairs calendar. This year it will be held at the Brussels Stock Exchange (Bourse de Bruxelles) on Tuesday, 30 November. During the black-tie evening, acknowledgement will be paid to all of the nominess and the results of the public vote will be announced.

Commemorative magazine
European Voice has published a special commemorative magazine. The magazine will feature photographs of the nominees, together with short personal profiles and the reasons they were chosen.
