The venue: the Residence Palace
By housing Belgium's main press centre in the Résidence Palace, a luxurious apartment building dating from the interwar period, we want it to restore the international cachet of which architect Michel Polak and financier Lucien Kaisin once dreamt. There are still plenty of traces of grandeur in both the Art Deco building itself and in the surrounding area.

The conference room: the Polak room

The Polak Room is named after Swiss architect Michel Polak who, in addition to the Résidence Palace, also designed the famous Empain building on Avenue Roosevelt. It is the largest room in the press centre.

This room is permanently fitted out with conference facilities. Every seat has its own microphone (for speaking), headphones (for listening to the interpreters) and a special jack (for hooking up recorders to tape the proceedings). There are four interpreting booths, each of which can hold two interpreters.

The exhibition area: the patio

The patio with its ceramic tile fountain - so reminiscent of Andalusia - is, together with the swimming pool, one of the most authentic areas in the Résidence Palace. The decor may make you feel you are in Andalusia, but unfortunately Belgium does not enjoy the same climate as southern Spain. For that reason the patio was recently roofed over, and can now be used as a central meeting place year round.
